This course introduces Intellectual Property (IP) and how it directly connects to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), a critical but often misunderstood component of the NIL landscape.

At its core, NIL is a form of Intellectual Property. Your name, image, voice and personal brand all carry value and understanding how IP works helps you protect what you own while engaging in opportunities responsibly. This course breaks down IP concepts in a clear, practical way so athletes and families can understand how ownership, usage rights and permissions apply to NIL activities.

You’ll also learn how IP shows up in contracts and why overlooking IP language can impact control, compensation and long-term brand value.
